    Position: Chair, Roy A. Jodrey Chair in Commerce or Business Administration

    The Roy A. Jodrey Chair was established at Dalhousie University in 1969. The Chair was established by Roy A. Jodrey, who founded Nova Scotia Power companies and the Minas Basin Pulp & Paper Company and built a financial empire. Jodrey came from humble Maritime roots but was determined to teach himself the basics of business. He was known for his grit, determination, and vision. He is remembered for his outstanding and generous contribution to the economic prosperity of Nova Scotia.

    We are pleased to be recruiting for our next Roy A. Jodrey Chair. We welcome all qualified candidates to submit their applications. The Chair will hold or be given their regular tenure track/tenured appointment at the initial rank of Associate Professor or Professor (dependent upon qualifications and experience) and will commence July 1, 2022 (negotiable). The Chair position will initially be for a five-year term and renewable subject to the terms of the Chair. The successful applicant will be expected to serve as an intellectual leader and to advance interdisciplinary scholarship related to business and society. The successful applicant is also expected to have a robust research track record and an ambitious research agenda. They will be committed to the success of the Faculty’s programs and students, and eager to contribute to the intellectual life of the Faculty. As the chair holder, the successful applicant receives a research stipend as well as a teaching reduction during the term of this Chair.

    • PhD from an accredited program in a relevant discipline
    • An exceptional record of scholarly activity commensurate with their career stage

    Position: Assistant Professor in Magnagement

    The Ron Joyce Centre for Business Studies/Commerce Department at Mount Allison University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Management at the Assistant Professor level, to begin on July 1, 2022, subject to budgetary approval. We are interested in candidates with training and expertise related to the intersections of business practices and social and economic justice issues. The specific areas of specialization, methodology and knowledge translation is open.

    Responsibilities include undergraduate teaching including COMM4311: Strategic Management, developing a research program, supervising undergraduate research and experiential learning student projects, advising students, and various service activities.

    Qualifications/Skills:

    • Must have completed a Ph.D. in a related discipline or be ABD at the time of their application for this position.
    • Potential to engage in high quality research, including attracting research funding; publishing research, developing research collaborations, and demonstrating future research impacts through traditional and non-traditional avenues.

    Our Department

    The Commerce Department offers undergraduates programs including a Bachelor of Commerce with an honours program, B.A. Commerce majors and minors, and a Bachelor of Commerce with an Aviation specialism. Commerce students at Mount Allison University complete a minor in another discipline as well as degree requirements elsewhere in the university. Faculty contribute teaching to the core of the program and to their areas of specialization.

    Faculty are research active with local, national and international collaborators and lead community-engaged research and experiential learning projects involving undergraduate students. Currently, faculty members hold grants with Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the New Brunswick Health Research Foundation, and Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada (CEWIL).

    Experiential learning has long been a distinguishing feature of the Commerce program with individual faculty members regularly designing and delivering course-related experiential and work-integrated-learning opportunities ranging from guest speakers and field trips, knowledge mobilization projects, research and organizational quality assurance projects, live case studies, student summer research opportunities and case competitions, as well as mentorships and internships.

    Rotman invites applications for a full-time Contractually Limited Term Appointment (CLTA) in the field of management, with a specialization in one or more of the following areas, accounting, economics, finance, marketing, organizational behaviour, operations, management, or strategy, at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The term of the appointment will be five years. The expected start date of this appointment is May 1, 2021. The successful candidate will be eligible to be appointed as the Academic Director of Rotman Executive Programs.

    Working under the general direction of the Dean of the Rotman School of Management, the Academic Director will have oversight of the Executive Programs and will collaborate with, and support, the Executive Director of Executive Programs in the creation of business development strategies, delivery requirements for the programs, and strategic planning and management of the redesign of internal processes to grow the business.

    Applicants must have a PhD degree in business administration, management, economics, or a related area with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing strengths. The successful candidate will be expected to sustain innovative and independent research.

    Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of sustained publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the field, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.

    Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching, including a strong ability to integrate both theory and practice; evidence of effective communication and presentation skills; skillful use of engaging activities that stimulate and challenge the intellectual capacity of faculty and students; and a demonstrated mastery of your subject area. This will be demonstrated by teaching accomplishments and the teaching dossier, including a teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations, as well as strong endorsements by referees.

    The successful candidate will have experience in developing strategic plans, Leveraging and developing opportunities for continued programming in the online environment, to expand reach of clients beyond executive in-person learning, Working with clients, business development teams and faculty to identify new program opportunities and leading or managing a team.

    Evidence of these requirements will be demonstrated by business development experience in building and growing successful executive programs, experience of collaboration across disciplines within business education, and through experience in program design and course development.

    We seek candidates with an interest in, and demonstrated ability to oversee program strategy, operations and finance, as well as client and faculty relationships. Working under the general direction of the Dean of the Rotman School of Management, the successful candidate is responsible for the strategic direction, growth, program creation, client development, and faculty relationships of Executive Programs with an emphasis on the creation of new programs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Executive Director of Executive Programs on achieving many of the objectives below and in leveraging the existing expertise within the staff and faculty. More specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to:

    • Provide academic leadership and oversight of Executive Programs.

Gustavson School of Business is a leader in integrating curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and a prominent contributor to business research particularly in its areas of expertise: International Business, Entrepreneurship, Service Management, and Sustainability.     The Gustavson School of Business is now seeking to appoint a new Dean for a five-year term, to commence on July 1, 2022. Reporting to the Vice-President Academic and Provost, the Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer for the School of Business and a member of the senior leadership team of the University of Victoria.     Position: Professor, John F. Wood Chair in Innovation in Business Learning

    The Ivey Business School at Western University, London, Ontario is pleased to announce a new John F. Wood Chair in Innovation in Business Learning. This endowed position is funded by a generous donation from John F. Wood, HBA ’64. The Chair will research new approaches to teaching and learning in business, developing innovative curriculum, collaborating with all programs at Ivey to introduce new educational approaches, and conducting significant outreach activities to non-Ivey audiences.

As such, the academic study of GVCs can be from the perspective of international strategy, supply chain management, logistics, and data analytics.

    The successful applicant will have demonstrated evidence of a sustained and productive emerging world-class research program. Applicants must present evidence of a strong publication record in global supply chain management, as well as a demonstrated ability to attract peer-reviewed funding. The program of research will be linked to the International Business & Supply Chain Management department within the Bissett School of Business. Research would ideally address substantive challenges in global supply chain competitiveness in a post pandemic world. This should be coupled with advanced data analytics. A long-term goal for this position is to foster multidisciplinary research that links the School and industry, while intentionally integrating an international, intercultural or global dimension into the work and student interactions.

    The successful applicant’s research program, while requiring independent work, should also have a collaborative component that will engage and mentor MRU students, faculty members across disciplines, government stakeholders, and industry and community partners.     Canada Research Chair Program

    The Canada Research Chair CRC program was established by the Government of Canada to enable Canadian universities to foster research excellence and enhance their role as centres of world-class research. Tier II CRC researchers are exceptional emerging researchers, recognized by their peers as having the potential to lead in their field. If recommended by the search committee, the candidate will be considered for an appointment in the appropriate department at MRU and will subsequently be nominated to a Tier II CRC.     Undergraduate Focus

    Mount Royal is committed to undergraduate education and in addition to demonstrating research excellence. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong undergraduate teaching background as well as the capacity to contribute to MRU’s undergraduate educational experience. The successful applicant will be prepared to complement the research and teaching activities through the hiring of student research assistants, supervising honours projects, and teaching some courses in the applicant’s field of study to complement existing areas of strength at MRU.
