In collaboration with the Canadian Federation of Business School Deans and the Association of Canadian Community Colleges, Industry Canada conducted a survey, in 2009, on the support for entrepreneurship across Canadian universities and colleges.
Higher education institutions play a strong role in the pursuit and development of new ideas. In this regard, the purpose of the survey was to identify how institutions compliment these efforts by providing the necessary environment and support for entrepreneurship (curricular and extra-curricular) and the commercialization. The survey generated a response rate of 33 percent, which represented approximately 50 percent of the undergraduate population in Canada for 2007/2008. The overall survey sample consisted of 68 institutions (36 universities and 32 colleges).
